Make Sense of Your Spirit, Soul & Body!

Spirit, soul, body

Do you know that you are a SPIRIT, you have a SOUL, and you live in a BODY? You’re made up of three parts – spirit, soul and body!

  1. Your BODY could be bigger, taller, stronger and better-looking than others, but we are all made from the dust of the earth!
  2. Your SOUL causes you to think, believe, feel, and make decisions; It controls the conscious actions of your body.
  3. Your SPIRIT is your eternal YOU. When you believe that Jesus died for your sins on the cross and trust him as Saviour and Lord, you become a spirit-child of your Spirit-Father in heaven!

Knowing the difference between your spirit, soul and body is really important to help you understand the Bible!

Now read these verses from the Bible and see if you can identify when it is talking about your SPIRIT, SOUL and BODY…

“Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!

Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.

When the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit.

Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God.

So then, beloved ones, the flesh has no claims on us at all, and we have no further obligation to live in obedience to it. For when you live controlled by the flesh, you are about to die. But if the life of the Spirit puts to death the corrupt ways of the flesh, we then taste his abundant life.”
