Did you know that God is so serious about his laws that he provides us a way to fulfil them all?
In the Bible, we see that God is serious about the laws he gave us for right living. God’s laws contain blessings and punishments – and they never change.
“For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” Matthew 5:18
Jesus tells us that every word of God’s law will be fulfilled!
“Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:19
Jesus also teaches that God will honour those that honour his laws!
“For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:20
Jesus shows us that following all the rules isn’t enough – God expects us to be perfect!
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them.” Matthew 5:17
Did you read that carefully? Jesus came to earth to meet all the requirements of God’s laws! He fulfilled them ALL!
Dear friend, when we believe in Jesus, his righteousness is given to us as a gift, and we put on his perfection and right standing with God.
Then God sees us just as he sees Jesus – someone who has fulfilled every word of the law! What a wonderful gift God has given us in Christ Jesus. Thank you Lord!
Scripture from NIV
Dear Father,
Thank you for your Word that shows us how serious you are about your laws. Thank you Lord for teaching us that you want us to be even more perfect than the Pharisees could be… and for providing us with the way – Jesus our Lord!
We believe in Christ Jesus your Son. We believe he is our righteousness, and we believe that in him we have forgiveness from all sin and redemption for our bodies.
Thank you Father, for your wonderful gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord!
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen!
