What do you feel proudest of today? Could it be your family, your wealth or your network of friends? Perhaps your achievements at work or school… or how beautiful, talented and popular you are?
“As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of him, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died… What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation. May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle; they are the new people of God.” See Galatians 6:14-16 NLT
According to the Bible, we don’t need to feel proud about anything we have or are, because we should have no more interest in the things of the world.
If you’ve believed that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins, your spirit person has been transformed into a new creation, making you into a beloved child of God. That’s all that matters!
Dear friend, let’s not be proud of anything we have or are in this world. Rather, let’s boast only of our Lord Jesus Christ and what he’s done on the cross. That’s when God’s peace and mercy will rest on us!
Dear Lord,
We are proud to be your beloved children! Thank you Lord for everything you’ve done for us, and especially for your finished work at the cross!
Lord, help us to be humble and not boast about anything we have or who we are. Instead, we give Jesus all honour, glory and praise, and say thank you Lord for your love demonstrated at the cross!
